Some exceptions for Household Members who are not Catholic, especially with regard to liturgical practices, can be made at the discretion of the Supervisor of the Household.

What are the commitments associated with participating in the Household Program?
Please see the Agreement (The Ohio State University , Ohio Dominican University) for practical information regarding the requirements of the Household Program.

How often do we eat together as a Household? Do I have to buy my own food?

The frequency and dates of these meals will vary by Household and will be decided by the Household Leader after consulting the Household Members.

For The Ohio State University:
A portion of the Household Fee paid by each Household Member is designated to purchase groceries, which are shared among all Household Members. Each Household handles grocery shopping differently, under the direction of the Household Leader. All food purchased by Household Fees is communal.

HOUSEHOLD FEES

How much does it cost to live in Households?
At The Ohio State University, for the 2019-2020 academic year, the monthly fee to live in Households is $645. This cost includes $545 for room, basic utilities, and internet, and $100 for monthly Living Expenses which cover groceries, cleaning supplies, etc.

At Ohio Dominican University, for the 2019-2020 academic year, the annual fee to live in Household for students is $270. Please note, this does not include Room and Board paid to Ohio Dominican University.

Why do I pay a Household Fee and not “rent”?
Because Saint Paul’s Outreach is providing a Household Program and not merely a housing situation, a Household Fee encompasses more than typical rent paid to a landlord. Thus, the term “Household Fee” is used to express the fee paid to cover the expenses of participating in the Household Program.

How do I pay my Household Fee?
At The Ohio State University, Upon acceptance of the Household Program, each Household Member will submit an ACH Authorization Agreement, which enables SPO to make automatic withdrawals from a designated bank account on the first day of each month for the duration of the Household Program. Another option is to pay two installments, one at the beginning of each semester (August and January) for the total amount of Household Fees for the semester. Additional information regarding payment of Household Fees can be found in the SPO OSU Household Agreement.

At Ohio Dominican University, upon acceptance of the Household Program, each Household Member may complete the necessary paperwork to pay in monthly installments beginning in August 2019 or pay in two installments of $135, one in August 2019 and one in January 2020.
