Why Collaborate with Us?

If you are committed to furthering the Catholic faith, you have found the right ministry! Why SPO?

Their Spiritual Poverty

There are many people in need of Christ, but college students are more spiritually vulnerable than any other group. They are thrust into an environment of moral decay, and most are not prepared to resist this sort of lifestyle. SPO engages these students before they are absorbed by this secular vortex, and shows them the way to abundant life in Christ and His Church.

Whenever someone wants to give their money to an organization, they want to know that it’s going to go where the greatest need is. It’s difficult to think of a more needy place than our college campuses, in terms of the need for the Catholic Church. This is a place where there’s real spiritual poverty.
— Bishop Andrew Cozzens, SPO Alumnus

Our Distinctive Success

SPO proves year after year that our methods are extraordinarily successful, producing a quality of fruit that is unmatched: thoroughly formed alumni who become missionaries and leaders in the Church, in the home, and in the marketplace, transforming their environments for Christ.

In my more than thirty years at Ohio Dominican, I have had many excellent and dedicated students, but SPO is something entirely new; I would even say the beginning of a new Pentecost here. It’s something I have never experienced on our campus before: students who are openly in love with the Lord, who truly love being Catholic, students who are so joyful and inviting to others in how they live their Catholic faith. Several students have become Catholic through their contact with SPO students. They love that SPO students both love the Lord but also are ‘regular’ people who love sports and have fun, and love to laugh and enjoy other ‘normal’ activities!

Your Call

As members of the Body of Christ, we are all called to participate in the Church's mission to evangelize.

St. Therese of Lisieux, the Carmelite nun who never travelled to a "mission" became the patron saint of missionaries through her prayers and sacrifices. She said, "Some give by going to the missions, some by giving to the missions. Without both there are no missions." In SPO, we know how to reach young people for Christ. We simply need collaborators like you to fuel our efforts through your prayers, financial partnership, and promotion.

Opportunities for Collaboration

  1. Pray
SPO Missionaries labor tirelessly to provide the environment and opportunity for an encounter with Christ. Yet, we are still dependent on students' openness to God's work in their souls. Your prayers for the success of our outreach are invaluable. Please pray and even fast for SPO Missionaries and the students who are in such desperate need of the Gospel. Apart from the grace of God, we can do nothing: "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain."  (Psalm 127:1)

  2. Partner
SPO has an effective and time-tested model of inviting young people to a relationship with Christ in His Church. As the saying goes, however, "no money, no mission." Our existence is dependent upon those who partner with us financially in this work. We frequently receive invitations to start SPO Chapters on campuses all over the country, but we cannot continue our growth without the necessary resources. Click here to join the mission financially.

  3. Promote
Tell your friends, your children, and your grandchildren about SPO. Encourage your diocese, friends, family, and fellow parishioners to pray for and partner with SPO. Together we can mobilize the Catholic community in the New Evangelization of our young people.
