216 Freshman Students Participate in ALPHA Retreat

This year, SPO Missionaries at Benedictine College were asked to host the BC Campus Ministry freshman retreat. After more than 450+ freshmen and transfers had converged on the campus, we met as many of them as we could in one week, inviting them to participate in the retreat. On August 31, 216 freshmen came out and experienced the ALPHA Retreat. That is almost half of the freshman class at BC, and the most to have ever participated in the freshman retreat!

To say that the ALPHA Retreat was a success would be an understatement. The night was amazing! In three and a half hours, we heard testimonies and talks, split into small groups, and took time to pray and worship together.

It was incredible to see incoming freshmen have such a strong desire for the Lord. The theme of the retreat was to start their college career on the right foot. Students were encouraged to stay focused on the Lord while at Benedictine, as well as seeing what He has planned for them these upcoming years.

God worked wonders in what was only three and a half hours. Students who had not been to confession since their first communion had the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation and give their life to the Lord once again.

It’s safe to say that God is doing great things here at Benedictine College, and SPO is honored to be a part of it!
