Support Efforts for SPO Kansas

Over the past few months, Saint Paul's Outreach Kansas has been honored to host two major support events in Kansas City: the second annual Catholic Men's Night in April, and a summer celebration in June. Both events surpassed expectations, and introduced even more folks to the great mission of SPO in Kansas!

Catholic Men's Night

The second annual Catholic Men’s Night took place on Tuesday, April 22, at the home of Gerry and Connie Euston of Leawood. Hosted by SPO Advisory Board Chair Michael Shirley, the purpose of the night was to engage men and leaders in the community, discussing the importance of the new evangelization. More than 50 men enjoyed a night full of great conversation, fellowship, and fun. State Street Brewery of Lawrence, Kansas, catered the night and hosted a beer tasting; in addition, Johnson County Community College student Will Carey gave a great testimony to the power of relationships and impact of SPO on his life after just one year.

Summer Gathering

For the second year in a row, Saint Paul's Outreach hosted a summer gathering to celebrate the success of SPO in Kansas, as well as share the organization's mission with the local community. The event was held on Sunday, June 22, at the Leawood home of Mike and Maureen Bukaty; supporters, friends, and SPO Missionaries were on hand to enjoy food, drinks, and great conversation focused on the new evangelization and the work of Saint Paul's Outreach in Kansas City.

Among the evening's speakers were Fr. Brian Schieber, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel; Gordy DeMarais, founder of Saint Paul’s Outreach; Matt Karr, Kansas Mission Center Director; Peter Del Castillo, SPO Mission Leader, Overland Park native, and convert to the Catholic faith; Fr. Brendan Rolling, OSB, Director of Mission & Ministry at Benedictine College; and Tim Haake, SPO Advisory Board member. The success of the event was due in large part to the continued support and assistance of extraordinary volunteers led by Mary Ann Caffrey.
