"And the LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire with good things, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." ~Isaiah 58:11~
As our staff was praying for the 2015-2016 school year, the scripture above made an impression upon us. We were imagining God teaching us many things in the year to come; how to be satisfied, strengthened, refreshed, and a source of life to others.
It has been incredible to see this scripture unfold in the work of SPO at Benedictine this year. We began this year with 50 students committed to our Formation Program, which provides opportunities for worship, training in the Christian life, and with a men's or women's small group to share life. In August and September, these students were giving themselves to being on mission on campus, to their studies, and most importantly to God. They were doing great! Then, October came. Our students were experiencing the "nitty gritty" of day to day living, which challenges us all. It was in that month that we led our Formation Students in a retreat called Two Kingdoms. The hope of this retreat is that all of us there can honestly and deeply proclaim to Jesus, you have "All my life for the rest of my life." At Two Kingdoms, or community began to more richly experience the satisfaction, strength, and refreshment (from Isaiah) that we were confident God had promised us! I think the grace of this retreat will carry us through the school year.
