Last weekend students at St. Olaf College did more than just celebrate the weather. Twenty students gathered at the Catholic Women’s Honor House for an SPO Lord’s Day Celebration and a celebration of all that God has done in their lives this year. After opening Saturday evening in prayer, students passed around bread and juice as they gave thanks for blessings in their lives: friends, family, four years of faith community through SPO, and of course, the weather.
Following worship, students ate homemade tacos and freshly baked cookies. The laughter-filled dinner conversation then continued outside as students enjoyed a competitive game of Ultimate Frisbee. The evening ended back inside the house with card games, a movie, and conversation.
God has provided St. Olaf with much this year, bringing many new faces and old friends together to pray, live, and worship. A description of last weekend’s Lord’s Day is only a brief snapshot of life at St. Olaf, but it reflects the joyful faith community God has been building all year – good weather or not!
