Vision and Purpose
Mission Staff Retreat (MSR) is a time set apart to:
Renew our relationship with the Lord and with each other
Renew our missionary zeal
Strengthen men’s/women’s identities and environments
Who: All SPO Missionaries, Chapter Leaders, other mission staff, and some students too!
Where: Staff will begin together at the NET Center and head into separate men’s and women’s locations, where we will be joined by some students
When: Tuesday, January 1st - Friday, January 4th
Airport: Minneapolis - St. Paul International (MSP)
Departure Time (January 4th)
MSR concludes at 12:00pm on Friday, January 4th (Oak Ridge for women; Camp Wapo for men)
Men: Make sure your departure flights leave after 3:00pm on Friday, January 4th
Women: Make sure your departure flights leave after 2:00pm on Friday, January 4th
Arrival Time (January 1st)
Staff will begin MSR at 2:00pm at the NET Center. Make sure your arrival flight lands before 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 1st
Students will be skipping the staff time at the NET Center, and therefore don’t need to fly in until 6:00pm. We are working on a plan to help you get from there to Wapo (men) or Oak Ridge (women).
Booked your flight? If you need a ride from and to the airport, you MUST complete this airport ride request by Monday, December 3rd. Give us your flight info (airline, flight numbers, arrival time, etc.), and we'll set you up with a ride.
Lodging will be provided in the main building, Cross Fire. There are 8 rooms on each floor, and each room as 4 bunkbeds (7 twin and 1 queen), a bathroom with shower, toilet and two sinks. Staff will have the option to choose their own rooms. Any staff attendee that has not picked his room assignment by the registration deadline (November 21st) will automatically be assigned a room.
Students and Missionaries will share 3 to a room. Each room has two full-sized beds and private bathroom. Chapter Leaders and Supervisors have the option to sharing 2 to a room (one per bed). Staff will have the option to choose their roommates. Any staff attendee that has not picked her room assignment by the registration deadline (November 21st) will automatically be assigned a room. Any attendee is welcome to upgrade to a single bed or single room for an additional fee. Contact Lenore Popp for details.
Things to Bring
Apart from the necessities, plan to bring:
No need to bring sleeping bags! The facilities will provide basic bedding (sheets, towels, blanket, and pillow).
Smart casual clothes for retreat (jeans and SPO t-shirts okay)
Exercise clothes/shoes (recreation and outdoor fellowship)
Prayer materials: Bible, journal, Liturgy of the Hours, Rosary, etc.
Snacks are provided, but feel free to bring your own
Men will be playing broomball outside so bring clothes for that!
