Vision and Purpose

Missionary Training 1 (MT1) focused on who we are called to be as SPO Missionaries. Missionary Training 2 (MT2) is all about what we are called to do. You'll be spending plenty of time with your Chapter teams, discussing and applying the training to your local context. As a set-aside time for all Missionary staff to be together, there will be many opportunities for prayer and community building too!


Musicians Training Details

  • Who: Some Missionaries and students (you should have RSVP'd to Alaina already if you plan to attend)
  • Registration: After RSVPing to Alaina, please formally register via the MT2 registration form
  • Where: St. Lawrence Catholic Church & Newman Center
  • When: Wednesday, July 25th  (Arrive by 4:00pm) to Saturday, July 28th 
  • Airport: Minneapolis -  St. Paul International (MSP)

Note: Musicians Training will NOT be held at the NET Center, as in years past. You are responsible for finding a way to get from Musicians Training to MT2. 

MT2 Details

  • Who: All SPO Missionaries, Chapter Leaders, and other staff
  • Where: NET Center - West St. Paul, MN
  • When: Saturday, July 28th - Friday, August 3rd (First session begins at 4:00pm)
  • Airport: Minneapolis - St. Paul International (MSP)

Note: MT2 ends on August 3rd; from there, we will move out of the NET Center and directly into SNE housing at St. Olaf College. August 4th will be used as an SNE prep day. Therefore, do not plan anything in your calendar between MT2 and SNE. Once SNE concludes, you will then directly travel to your 2018-2019 Chapter locations.

Airport Ride Request (July 20th)

Booked your flight? If you need a ride from and to the airport, you MUST complete this airport ride request by Friday, July 20th. Give us your flight info (airline, flight numbers, arrival time, etc.), and we'll set you up with a ride.

Note: Airport rides to MT2 are coordinated by the staff training team. Airport rides after SNE are coordinated by the SNE transportation crew. You will fill out all your airport information in one form (below).

Things to Bring

1) Why do I need to register?
Registration lets us know you’re attending and how much food and materials to prepare. If you don’t register, we can’t guarantee you a bed to sleep in or food to eat.

2) What happens if I don't register?
If you don’t register by July 6th and are attending training, you will be charged the total cost of your meals.

3) What happens if somethings changes after I register (travel, emergency contact, develop a food allergy, etc.)?
Let Brenten know right away.

4) Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
No! The NET Center will provide basic bedding (sheets, blanket, and pillow). No need to pack a sleeping bag.

5) Does SPO pay for my checked baggage?
We do, as long as the cost is within your travel allowance. Use your SPO credit card for checked-bag fees, or submit a reimbursement request with your receipt.

Apart from the necessities, plan to bring:

  • No need to bring sleeping bags! The facilities will provide basic bedding (sheets, blanket, and pillow). 
  • Smart casual clothes for training (jeans and SPO t-shirts okay)
  • Dress clothes (for Sunday Mass and SNE)
  • Exercise clothes/shoes (recreation and outdoor fellowship)
  • Swimwear (no plans yet, but you never know!)
  • Toiletries
  • Towel
  • Water bottle
  • Prayer materials: Bible, journal, Liturgy of the Hours, Rosary, etc.
  • Snacks are provided, but feel free to bring your own
  • Anything you'll need for your year of service!
