On Monday, April 28, SPO New Jersey hosted its fifth Annual Benefit Banquet. This night was filled with joy and enthusiasm for the work of SPO in New Jersey. More than 230 friends and benefactors of SPO joined together to celebrate the fruit of the ministry and to support this important work.
The night was emceed by Dr. Diane Traflet, a professor at the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology and longtime friend to Saint Paul's Outreach. Dr. Traflet beautifully led the night and eloquently highlighted all that God is doing through SPO.
Coadjutor Archbishop Bernard Hebda kicked off the evening's program with prayer and sharing about his own experience with SPO, from a retreat we led for seminarians in Rome, to stories about the Men’s House - he is truly no stranger to SPO!
SPO New Jersey honored Dr. Gabriel Esteban, President of Seton Hall University, and Members of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of Legatus with the 2014 Public Servant Leader Awards.
The night also featured two SPO New Jersey students who talked about the impact SPO has made in their lives. Kristin Drake and Joe Buganski witnessed to the Holy Spirit working in their lives and how SPO was an instrumental part of their conversion stories. Kristin shared:
I’m so thankful for SPO. I often wonder what would have happened if I didn’t go to Seton Hall... Where would I be in my faith? I know that if I didn't meet SPO, my life ten years down the road would be drastically different, but because of SPO, my life is great! I have encountered Christ with the help of SPO, I trust God and I know He has amazing plans for my future, and now I know my identity as a daughter of God.
Overall, the night was a huge success! Thanks to our many friends and benefactors, we were able to reach our fundraising goal. This night was a true witness to God’s grace and truly demonstrated the continuous work that is needed to be done at college campuses across the country!
