For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. - 1 Corinthians 5:7b-8
There is no doubt that Spring is my favorite season. Not only do we shed the physical darkness and frost of Winter to revel in the glory of our God's creation reborn into sunlight, soft breezes and fragrant flowers, but we have the unparalleled opportunity to participate (and rejoice) in our salvation. Through the mysterious and solemn season of Lent, we experience anew the Lord's mercy as He allows our sufferings to bring us closer to Him, bridging the great chasm of sin separating the beloved from the Maker. And then, just as all hope seems lost, a light shines in the darkness. Our Eucharistic Lord is restored, not only to our Churches and our bodies, but to His throne in Heaven! One can hardly imagine the joyous celebration of the Saints and Angels as we, here on earth, toll the bells and raise our voices in praise and thanksgiving during the Easter Gloria.
Just as we are called for 40 days to enter into the suffering of Lent through solemn prayer, fasting, and alms giving; so too are we called for 50 days to enter into the joy of the Resurrection through praise and thanksgiving. One way that we do that in Saint Paul's Outreach is through our Easter Celebration. Each spring we gather to celebrate what the Lord has done in our ministry and in our lives by worshipping Him in the Holy Liturgy, feasting at a light reception, and honoring our missionaries for their hard work and dedication. Particularly we take time to honor one senior each year who has made a tremendous impact in the lives of those around them.
So please join us on May 15th at the Pontifical College Josephinum, as we worship our resurrected Lord and celebrate His good work as a community of believers. Plus, those who attend get to be the first to find out who our fantastic missionary of the year is! Details are shown below, please remember to RSVP to Megan Palmer at firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan on joining us.
