Women's Get Away!

Last Friday evening we headed out of the city and into a country for a weekend spent at the Yunker’s farm.  I’ve always enjoyed going to the Women’s Getaway, but this year I was really looking forward to spending time together with just girls!

So what is it that we do at Women’s getaway? It’s a pretty easy answer:  not much!  Our lives are already filled with enough deadlines and scheduled events that we didn’t want the weekend to lose its main purposes, which are: to restore, recreate, and relate with our sisters in Christ.

Friday evening we spend the night jumping on the trampoline, eating pizza, riding the four-wheeler, baking cookies and watching a movie.  Sounds pretty relaxing, right? Friday was perfect and I enjoyed every moment hanging out with all the girls, but with only half the weekend over I still had lots to look forward to on Saturday.

We began the day with Morning Prayer together.  I couldn’t think of any other way I would have wanted to start the day.  I love coming together to pray as women.  It brings a lot of encouragement and really builds up our sisterhood in Christ.  The morning being unplanned was soon filled with a nail salon in the kitchen, board games in the living room and conversations flying everywhere.  The weekend wasn’t complete until we finished with a Zumba workout.  The weather was perfect for turning the backyard into a workout studio and working up a sweat with some local Zumba instructors.  Although being a novice at Zumba myself, I enjoyed every minute of it and by the looks on the girl’s faces and their laughter I could tell they had a great time too.  To finish the weekend we had a cookout to nourish our bodies after a hard workout.  Although the weekend was short lived it was great to get a chance to just spend time as women and be free from all the cares of the world.  God blessed the time we had together and I know for myself I was restored to come back to my busy life.
