On the evening of October 26th, more than 600 students, staff and supporters of Saint Paul’s Outreach filled the Archie M. Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union to celebrate the work of Saint Paul’s Outreach, which will bear fruit in the lives of our students “for generations to come.”  It was a night set apart to give thanks for all the Lord has done by changing hearts on campus, far more than we could ask or imagine!

In his keynote address, Bishop Frederick Campbell, the bishop of the Diocese of Columbus, compared the times that we live in to what St. Paul encountered in Ephesus when he wrote to the Ephesians, “Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Eph 3:20-21).  Bishop Campbell charged us with the call “to change the culture around us by our lives, by our concerns, how we live, how we speak, what hope we have.”  He continued by saying, “this means offering people a vision of the glory and the love and the power and grace of God we have in Jesus Christ, but we must know Him and how we, out of love of the world around us, are preparing ourselves to speak the name of Jesus, not only with our lives, but by the character of our lives.”

We were privileged to hear from Ohio State seniors, Isaac Maurer and Victoria Shand, about the profound effect the Lord has had on their lives through Saint Paul’s Outreach.  A common theme for both is the influence of the SPO Household program.  Isaac and Victoria encountered the possibility of a full life, lived with Christ, in an SPO Household.  They have been equipped to live and share their faith “for generations to come.”

All in all, the evening proved how faithful the Lord is, never leaving us to fend for ourselves.  Through the generosity of our supporters, we were able to reach our financial goal of raising $450,000.  May the Lord continue to bless the mission, the students, the staff, and the supporters of Saint Paul’s Outreach!
