Aimee Ellis

Title: Chapter Leader

Chapter: University of Central Florida

Aimee Ellis lived the first eleven years of her life in Blaine, MN. A Midwestern girl to the core, Aimee was often found climbing trees, rollerblading, biking, or catching frogs with the neighborhood children. When Aimee was eleven her family moved to a 10-acre hobby farm outside St. Cloud, MN and her love for the Minnesotan outdoors grew. She never denies an opportunity to try something new such as archery, parasailing, or perfecting her grilling skills. Aimee also loves traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures. Helen Keller said, “Life is either a great adventure or nothing."

Part of the great adventure of Aimee’s life is her spiritual journey. St. Augustine says that “to seek God is the greatest adventure.” Aimee attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, earning a double major in Catholic Studies and Family Studies. However, she soon realized that college life is often one of secularism and pleasure and allowed her identity to be placed in her friends and what they thought of her. As a result, she struggled to be herself as she tried to live up to their expectations.

Then, Aimee encountered Saint Paul’s Outreach and discovered that she could find freedom if her identity was in Christ. Through the guidance of mentors both inside and outside of SPO, Aimee embarked on a journey of re-defining her identity. This journey of freedom and joy is continuing even now as she continues to discover new ways in which she is God’s beloved daughter. Her favorite quote is, “True beauty emanates from a woman who boldly and unabashedly knows who she is in Christ.” Aimee has found freedom to be herself in Christ and now brings this freedom to women on college campuses.
