Amy grew up in a small town 10 miles from the Canadian border. She spent a majority of her childhood ice fishing, jumping hay bales, and playing tag (pronounced like bag). Growing up, Amy was always very curious and asked many “who, what, when, where and why” questions. It was through this gift of curiosity that she began to question her faith. The Lord brought key people into her life and soon Amy became alive in her own faith. She began to realize that this adventure of life was not meant to be lived with just her, but she had a Friend who wanted to be along for the ride. The Lord has certainly led her on an adventure!
After high school Amy spent a year at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, and then spent two years sharing the Gospel with high school students through NET Ministries. After these two years of service Amy finished her undergraduate education at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She was able to get plugged into SPO and lived in Household her first year. Her final year at St. Thomas Amy was called to serve though Campus Ministry as a Peer Minister. She found the tremendous gift it was to actually walk with other women in their faith journey as so many had with her. It was through this experience that the Lord planted seeds in her heart to call her to full-time ministry. In discerning her call to ministry she realized she desired to serve with Saint Paul’s Outreach. As Mother Teresa felt a calling to work with the “poorest of the poor” in India, Amy also felt a calling to serve students in the United States who she believes to be the most spiritually poor.
