Title: Mission Leader
Mission Center: Minnesota
Chapter: University of St. Thomas
Catie Destatte was born and raised in good 'ol Holy Toledo, Ohio. She has four younger siblings and a whole LOT of family to always keep her entertained and on her toes. Catie graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in May 2016 with degrees in Theology and Catechetics. Her life was radically transformed by the community and formation she found at Franciscan. During her four years there, she came to know Jesus as a person who loved her and came to find within herself a deep love for Him and for His Church. She fell in love with college ministry during her stint on Franciscan's Women's Ministry team. Though she loves teens and always thought she'd want to work with them, her true passion is walking with college students on their journey to the Lord. She was resistant to the Lord's call to SPO at first, but once she finally overcame her tendency to stubbornness, she realized just how perfect God's plan is in calling her to this mission.
Catie loves the outdoors even though she hates bugs, and loves to go camping, biking, swimming, kayaking, and hiking in the sun in order to improve her chacos tan line. She also enjoys playing guitar (albeit badly), exploring new places, discussing the catechetical implications of every movie, song, and book she encounters, all things Harry Potter, eating peanut butter m&ms, and her morning coffee + rosary routine. Her go-to fun fact is that she spent four months studying abroad in Austria and was able to be present at the canonization of her best friend, St. John Paul II. She regularly refers to Our Lady as "Mama" or "Mom", and considers her to be the biggest influence and most important person in her life besides Jesus. She's excited to serve in the beautiful Minnesota, though nightmares about the cold winters regularly keep her up at night.
