Rusty Zimmerman

Title: Chapter Leader

Chapter: University of Central Florida

Rusty is from Jackson, WI where he enjoyed working on his uncle’s dairy farm milking cows. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2016 with a degree in Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering. In college, Rusty devoted much of his time to FarmHouse Fraternity where he served as Vice President and then President. Through FarmHouse, Rusty was challenged to grow in his Catholic faith through Bible studies, small groups, and going to Mass with his fraternity brothers. Rusty also had the opportunity to attend a mission trip to Anchorage, Alaska with SPO. Through serving the poor community up there, the Lord began stirring in Rusty’s heart to serve as a Missionary.

Directly after graduation, Rusty worked full-time as a Water Resources Engineer for a civil engineering firm in Minnesota.  The best way to describe his job was “street plumber” – he designed the road drainage so the streets didn’t flood!  Despite engineering, Rusty sought to stay involved with SPO by leading a mission trip to Alaska in 2017. Through the experiences and growth of the students on the trip, the Lord made clear to Rusty to leave his engineering job and to serve the Kingdom as an SPO Missionary.

Rusty is beyond excited to serve at University of Central Florida. He is excited to bring his brotherhood experiences and experiences with SPO to help the community in Florida grow! Rusty loves the outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping, and whitewater kayaking. He is always up for playing sports, grabbing coffee, and taking conversations deep in pursuit of truth!
