Chapter: The Ohio State University
Jazlyn grew up in Moorhead, Minnesota, where the high school mascot is a potato, so you know it was rough from the start….
Totally kidding - Moorhead is a splendid town. Jazlyn was raised by incredible parents, Ben and Lisa, along with two siblings. She was the definition of a middle child, but thrived in her role by challenging her parents with her unique personality and loud voice. Her home parish, St. Joe’s, was where she first started growing in faith. In high school she had the opportunity to teach Sunday school to preschoolers, which skyrocketed her love of working alongside the church.
After high school Jazlyn attended the University of Minnesota for a degree in Child Psychology. While in college she overwhelmed her schedule with endless opportunities and could often be found running around campus like a chicken with its head cut off, doing anything from having a one on-one with another woman at a quiet coffee shop to tap dancing in the streets of downtown Minneapolis.
Jazlyn didn’t find SPO; SPO found her, and from then on she felt as if she was the chosen one (kind of like Harry Potter). She was first involved in a small group her sophomore year and owes the tremendous growth in her faith to these women who continually showed her the Lord’s love and perseverance. When they say it takes an army, they mean it. These women continually pushed her to try new things, step up in leadership, and go outside of her comfort zone. For the first time, Jazlyn experienced a personal relationship with the Lord her sophomore year while attending a Fan into Flame retreat. From there, her relationship with Christ and love for the Catholic faith grew and she has never looked back.
Jazlyn will be serving at The Ohio State University and is thrilled to go even further outside of her comfort zone. She is particularly excited to serve the women in Ohio and show them the love Christ has for them, the way the SPO Mission Leaders at the UofM showed her. If she had to summarize her three loves in life it would be Jesus, women/sisterhood, and taco hats. Jazlyn is thrilled to bring each of these to Ohio with her.
Title: Chapter Leader
Chapter: The Ohio State University
Michael was born and raised in the wonderfully humid suburbs of Houston, Texas. He recently graduated from Benedictine College with a major in Business Management and a minor in Theology. Michael grew up in a large Catholic Italian family where faith, family, food, and sports were some of the most important parts of his childhood. Growing up as the youngest of four, in a house that constantly had kids in and out, he naturally excelled in sports largely through the influence of his older siblings and peers. Playing just about anything under the sun, Michael loved soccer and basketball growing up, and then good ol' Texas football through high school. In his success and pursuit of sports, approval of friends, and relationships through high school, his faith naturally took the back seat.
Michael always knew his Catholic faith in his head, and believed in God, yet never fully gave over control to Him, allowing for sports and relationships to take president over God. It was not until Michael served with NET Ministries out of high school that his head and his heart connected. It was then that Michael was able to place his full identity in the fact that he is a son of the Father and that his life is not his own to live, but to give over control and live for the greater glory of God. This was further grounded through his time at Benedictine and encountering the SPO community there, that truly provided him with friendships that challenged and encouraged him to continue to strive for sainthood by being on mission in every aspect of his life.
Michael still enjoys doing just about anything under the sun, but spending time with his family and friends is probably his favorite thing to do - especially with his four nieces and nephew. Michael loves to cook and learning how to cook, because he definitely loves to eat. He is very excited to be returning to the "Promise Land" of Texas for his first year with Saint Paul's Outreach at Texas State. But he is most excited to learn about a new way of life with the Bobcat community and to incorporate the challenge he received with all those he is to meet.

Jona grew up on a hobby farm in rural Minnesota with her older sister and parents. Her love of nature was fostered through summers running around their farm and summers spent in Alaska as a deckhand through her college years. Jona graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Natural Resources Management from North Dakota State University.
Before she felt called to be a mission leader with Saint Paul’s Outreach, Jona was working as an environmental scientist for an engineering consulting firm in Bismarck, ND. After being asked by a friend if she had ever thought of being a missionary, Jona prayerfully consider her call to serve on college campuses as a missionary. Though she loved her job she knew God was calling her to serve His kingdom in a radical way. Jona is excited to serve her first year with SPO at The Ohio State University this fall.
Jona loves bringing others closer to Christ through the building-up of authentic community. Some of her favorite ways to build community are through her love for swing dancing, swimming, biking, and sharing a good cup of coffee. Prayers for Jona as she ventures into her first year as mission leader would be very much appreciated!
Emily grew up in small town in northwest Ohio, and graduated from Ball State University with a degree in elementary education and vocal music. Although Emily grew up with a family rooted in the Catholic faith, when she arrived on campus her freshman year the Catholic faith was suddenly something that required a choice. She chose to ask the big questions and became involved with the Catholic community on campus. It was through her sister, Gina, that Emily was introduced to Saint Paul’s Outreach. Through Saint Paul's Outreach, Emily experienced the power of the Holy Spirit alive in God’s people and came to invite the Lord to work in her life even more deeply and more boldly. You might know that if you give the Lord an inch He may take a mile! Emily is thrilled to be working full time with SPO for her second year, building the Kingdom particularly though serving the students at THE Ohio State University.
Emily loves her family and friends, and takes joy in spending time with them over games, meals, and celebrations. She loves to run, read, bake, hike, and dig in the dirt. Emily has lived in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Germany, and is happy to be living in Ohio once again, this time serving with SPO.
Joe hails from Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, where he is the middle child in a family of seven children - including younger brother Martin! A recent graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in civil engineering, Joe was blessed to become involved with Saint Paul's Outreach New Jersey his freshman year, and promptly moved into Household his sophomore year. A huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, Joe loves playing sports - especially basketball - and can also be found playing guitar, hiking, camping, working with his hands, and talking to anyone and everyone about anything and everything. He is excited to get out on campus and spread the gospel, and feels specifically charged with raising up young men to be leaders and live passionately.
