Paul VI, General Audience, Nov. 29, 1972:
"What do we feel is the first and last need of this blessed and beloved Church of ours? We must say it, almost trembling and praying, because as you know well, this is the Church’s mystery and life: the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. He it is who animates and sanctifies the Church… The Church needs her perennial Pentecost; she needs fire in her heart, words on her lips, prophecy in her outlook."
Last weekend, over 50 students in central Texas received the life of the Holy Spirit in a new and powerful way. The annual Fan Into Flame retreat, this year located at Cross Roads Christian retreat center in the wilderness of Caldwell TX, is an opportunity for young professionals to open the door behind which God is always knocking, waiting, pursuing.
With that door opened, the Lord opened the floodgates this past weekend. Through a series of talks, testimonies, community life and a whole lot of prayer, participants were able to experience a new Pentecost. They encountered the Lord in a personal way, some for the first time, and were strengthened by His gifts and grace.
Now empowered by the Holy Spirit, the SPO Texas community has returned to campus with new zeal to live life in the Spirit and be on mission to share the gift of God's love with everyone they meet.
