What does the application process involve?
First, you’ll fill out an application online. If you are selected to move forward in the process, you will be extended an interview. There are three interview seasons between the opening of the application and the closing of the application. If extended, you only need to interview once. You will be notified shortly after your interview whether or not you have been extended a spot at our summer internship! Should you accept, you would then register for training. Thre is a limited capacity for the internship but we hope you'll consider applying.
When is training?
Training will be held in St. Paul, MN June 2nd through June 22nd, 2025
WHERE WILL I BE LIVING?
You will be living in one of our Training Households in either Minneapolis, MN or St. Paul, MN. Households will consist of local houses where our Minnesota campuses have their households, and dorms at the University of St. Thomas.
I HAVE AN EVENT DURING TRAINING, CAN I ATTEND/COME LATE?
Being part of SPO mission training is a privilege that is often very beneficial for the faith lives of those who come. We want to make sure our interns are ready to embrace the time well so that they are blessed as much as possible, to be a blessing for as many as possible. We expect that if you come to training, you are present the whole time. Here is some official SPO policy on training, and sacrifices that we ask of all missionaries and interns who are present.
For weddings: We ask anyone going to training (including missionaries) to not attend any weddings in the month unless you are in the wedding party.
For classes: Please let us know ASAP about any classes that you must take in the summer. We would ask that you not take classes to the extent possible, and too many classes might preclude you from coming to training.
For dating relationships: Know that for this month, you will likely spend significantly less time with your significant other, even if they are at training also. For those remote, it is likely you might only have one or two connections with your SO over the month.
Other (Family vacations, etc.): Please let us know ASAP if there's anything else you think might pull you away from training.
I HEAR EVERYONE IS FUNDRAISING, WhaT DOES THAT MEAN?
Engaging in Mission Partner Development (MPD) is a part of SPO’s mission: this means inviting others into our mission through financial partnership and prayer. MPD is a great way to to be on mission to friends and family who are outside of the college campus. God works powerfully in all facets of our mission, and MPD gives us an exciting opportunity to share the gospel with people we might not normally. All interns are expected to fundraise in order to experience this aspect of our mission. More details on fundraising will be released soon as we finalize the details of the program. You can learn more about fundraising here
what's the schedule?
A typical day of training consists of waking up for morning prayer, personal prayer, daily Mass, attending classes, lunch, free time, household dinner and evening activities! A more detailed schedule will be released closer to training. We have a schedule planned for every single day of training, this includes weekends.
