Create a legacy that lasts for generations to come!
Planned Giving enables you to fulfill your charitable and philanthropic intentions with gifts made to SPO through your estate by creating a future charitable commitment using a will, trust, life insurance policy, or other estate planning tools.
Planned Gifts will further the evangelistic work of SPO, and they can be designated to specific programs or areas of our work. Creating your legacy today will help ensure that future generations are given the opportunity to encounter the transformational love of Christ through SPO.

Saint Paul’s Outreach (SPO) offers a variety of strategic gift opportunities called planned gifts. Also known as legacy gifts, these gifts are designed to complement your philanthropic and estate planning goals. Planned gifts offer you significant tax savings and, in most cases, will not affect your current financial situation. They can be directed to further the evangelistic work of SPO, and can be designated to specific programs and areas of our work. Creating your legacy today will help ensure that future generations are given the opportunity to encounter the transformational love of Christ through SPO.
GIFT OPPORTUNITIES
Bequest
A bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust. Often just a sentence or two, it’s a gift that costs nothing during your lifetime and allows you the flexibility to update your intention if circumstances change. If you already have a will or living trust, you can amend it to include SPO via a simple codicil. Bequests can be made for a fixed amount, percentage, or the residual of your estate.Beneficiary Designation
If you have set up a retirement plan, insurance policy, bank account, and/or brokerage account, chances are you’ve completed a beneficiary designation form to specify who will benefit and what percentage you’d like each to receive. In addition to naming individuals, you can also name charities, like SPO.Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA)
A charitable gift annuity is a simple way, in exchange for a gift of cash or appreciated assets, to receive fixed payments for life. Through our partnership with the National Catholic Community Foundation, you can name SPO as the recipient of a CGA, which entitles you to an immediate charitable income tax deduction. At the end of its term, the annuity balance goes to SPO to support our mission. Contact Mark Cantine to learn more about this new opportunity.Charitable Remainder Trust
You transfer assets to a trust, and the trust pays a fixed or variable income to you or other beneficiaries. Payments can be for life, or a term of up to twenty years, and when the trust terminates, the remaining assets go to SPO. The donor receives a charitable deduction and may avoid capital gains.Charitable Lead Trust
A charitable lead trust works like a charitable remainder trust in reverse. When you make the gift, the trust pays income to SPO first, typically for a term of up to 20 years. After that, the trust assets are passed back to you or other family members you designate.Gifts of Real Estate
SPO can accept gifts of real estate. If you donate real estate, then you may receive an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the real estate and may avoid capital gains tax on the transfer.Retained Life Estate
With this gift, you transfer the deed for your property to SPO and retain the right to use or live on the property for your lifetime. The tax deduction you receive in the year of the transfer is based on your life expectancy and the property’s current value, and you agree to cover expenses and maintenance of the property during your lifetime.Charitable Bargain Sale
You sell your property to SPO for an amount less than the fair market value, and receive a charitable tax deduction equal to the difference between the market value and the sale price.Gifts of Personal Property
You can make a significant gift by transferring a painting, antique, collectible, or other personal property to SPO. In return, you receive an immediate income tax deduction, and pay no capital gains on any appreciation.
